Reverse engineering and rapid manufacturing: what are they used for?
Reverse engineering is a process that allows a physical object (part, die, model, etc.) to be used to reconstruct its digital 3D model (CAD). This technique is useful when plans or CAD data are missing or incomplete.
By combining this approach with rapid manufacturing, a prototype part can be quickly obtained and its functionality tested.
