The 1G4.0 "Reverse Engineering and Rapid Manufacturing" decision-makers' day, organized by the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Metz, will take place on Friday, June 11, 2021, starting at 9:00 a.m. in the form of a webinar.

Reverse engineering and rapid manufacturing: what are they used for?

Reverse engineering is a process that allows a physical object (part, die, model, etc.) to be used to reconstruct its digital 3D model (CAD). This technique is useful when plans or CAD data are missing or incomplete.

By combining this approach with rapid manufacturing, a prototype part can be quickly obtained and its functionality tested.

  • Reverse engineering and rapid manufacturing: 3D scanning, CAD, digital simulation, and rapid manufacturing. The presentation will draw on practical examples from foundries - Nicolas Bonnet from the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Metz.

10:00 a.m.

  • Industrial applications of 3D scanning - Simon Jung, from 3D Jungle Consulting.

10:45 a.m.

  • Pause.

11:00 a.m.

  • Tour and collaborative demonstration of rapid manufacturing in augmented reality – Denis Matheis, Nicolas Bonnet, Marc Solanilla, and Olivier Naegelen from the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Metz.

12:00 p.m.

  • End

If health conditions allow, the afternoon may be devoted to demonstrations and hands-on use of virtual and augmented reality tools.
