On Friday, June 14, in Carcans, engineering students from the Bordeaux-Talence campus participated in the inauguration of a memorial stone in memory of the 100 American airmen who disappeared in the Médoc region in 1944.

This memorial was created in the campus workshops using laser cutting and marking techniques. It was unveiled on June 14 during a commemorative ceremony attended by military and civilian authorities (including the sub-prefect, Gironde deputy and senator, and US consul) as well as veterans (French, American, and British). The eight engineering students in attendance—dressed in their school uniforms—represented the school and raised its profile at this event, which was open to the general public and attracted more than 400 people. The students were able to talk to the various participants and present the school and its activities.

In addition, in 2018, the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Bordeaux-Talence participated in the analysis of parts from American aircraft shot down in combat in 1944 and recovered in the Médoc region. Drawing on its experience in mechanics and aeronautics, the campus was able to contribute its expertise to the study of these remnants of World War II.
