To meet the needs of its industrial partners, Arts et Métiers positioning Arts et Métiers at the top of a sector that covers strategic areas forthe industry of the future, both in France and internationally, according to Ivan Iordanoff, Deputy Director General in charge of research and innovation. This sector is divided into four economic areas: transport, energy, health, and housing. Our areas of expertise mainly impact these four sectors.

The scientific coloring of campuses

"To increase our impact on manufacturers in each economic sector, we have carried out in-depth work, scientifically categorizing campuses: detailed mapping of campus skills that enables them to manage and develop their activities in research and commercialization, and allows the school to respond collectively and effectively to industrial issues that often require multiple skills. Each campus is thus designated as a leader in several key skills; for example, machining in Cluny, biomechanics in Paris, and forging in Metz. These are the skills that are called upon to meet the needs of the four economic sectors.

Twenty key skills have been identified, representing 70% ofArts et Métiers scientific activities. Some of these are developing very rapidly, such as additive manufacturing, the digitization of processes and procedures, and collaborative robotics.
