In April 2018, the board of directors ofAMJELille (Arts et Métiers Étude) met to elect its new representatives. Today, we have the opportunity to meet its new president, Romain Debraize, a first-year engineering student at the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille.
Arts et Métiers Étude: the link between companies and engineering students
The AMJE is a non-profit organization established under the French law of 1901, dedicated to establishing genuine links between Arts et Métiers engineering students, who are eager to share their knowledge and expertise, and companies with needs that can be met by the association. Romain explains : "Around ten students have joinedthe AMJE Lille this year. All were selected from among the most determined and motivated candidates who are eager to get a foot in the door of the working world." With this new team and new projects on the horizon, AMJE hopes to obtain the "Junior Enterprise" label in the near future.
Why contact AMJE?
The AMJE offers companiesthe opportunity to call on Arts et Métiers engineering students Arts et Métiers carry out various assignments. "Design and production are the school's spearhead," says Romain. Indeed, engineering students receive comprehensive training, from the use of CAD software to machining in the workshops of the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Lille. In addition to this training, students have gained experience through numerous projects carried out as part of their extracurricular activities. Romain explains, "Every year, we organize a big gala. For the last one, we made souvenirs for 600 guests in less than two weeks."
But AMJE also has other skills, such as the layout and optimization of production space and the creation of websites, with extensive knowledge of coding, programming, and database management.
Projects carried out in 2017
During the 2017/2018 school year, AMJE Lille carried out numerous projects, including:
- Development of specifications, research into solutions, and modeling selected for a bullet trap system for a sports club - Sports association - US Tir Gouvieux
- Public opinion survey to inform choices for future train designs - Alstom
- Design of a tool to improve the equipment condition monitoring process - Botte Fondations
- Creation of a static website for an independent architect - ID+
