Arts et Métiers its Laval Institute, launched the "iPerform" Chair in June 2023 on collaborative performance through immersive technologies and virtual worlds. The Chair is supported by the "Presence & Innovation" research team at LAMPA, theArts et Métiers research laboratory.
The work of iPERFORM will focus on three main areas:
Incarnation:
- Adapt immersive applications to the individual characteristics of users;
- Explore representation methods in a multi-platform environment;
- Identify their impacts in terms of experience and interactions.
Perception
- Optimizing graphic quality and virtual realism in a multi-platform context;
- Develop multisensory digital representations;
- Represent invisible or poorly understood phenomena and make them understandable.
Interaction:
- Optimize interaction with autonomous virtual agents;
- Exploring the potential of collaborative virtual worlds;
- Characterize their uses and limitations.
An exemplary and original partnership
iPERFORM is a five-year research project that will provide partner companies with exclusive access to the research and development work carried out within the framework of the chair, as well as a privileged relationship with the laboratory's researchers and engineers, enabling them to stay abreast of the latest international developments in the relevant technologies and the development of demonstrators suitable for their use cases.
This type of multi-year, structured partnership also allows companies to benefit from the full power of Arts et Métiers research capabilities.
