Aviation equipment maintenance is carried out according to specific rules and procedures as defined in the maintenance manuals provided by manufacturers. Maintenance personnel rely on these regulatory documents, which they interpret as work instructions that can be used in the workshop or during line maintenance.
Safran Landing Systems has developed a concept called A.R.G.O.™ (Augmented Reality for Ground Operations) dedicated to its MRO (Maintenance Repair & Overhaul) workshops, but also to its operator customers, providing them with technician assistance solutions based on augmented reality technologies.
This new approach provides technicians with immediate access to online work instructions that are consistent with the configuration of the product being serviced, while introducing a process that guarantees quality and traceability. Services are also being developed for operators, in particular interactive remote assistance from an expert or training materials using virtual or augmented reality. Now a fully-fledged project within the Factory of the Future initiative, these applications are also being rolled out in mass production workshops.
