Karama Guimbal is a robotics engineer at Bluefrog Robotics. At the same time, she teaches on the ColRobot Specialized Master's program, training tomorrow's professionals in service robotics.

After Master of Science a Master of Science in Medical Robotics, Karama Guimbal worked for a year and a half in industrial robotics. In late 2015, she joined the Bluefrog Robotics team as a robotics engineer. Her daily work focuses on integrating a robot into the home environment to make it a full-fledged companion. “Today, I’m in the hardware division at Bluefrog Robotics, working on the commercialization of our Buddy robot. Compared to my previous professional experiences, the technical challenges are the same but with different constraints. Optimizing the navigation of an industrial robot or a companion robot isn’t all that different. What is different, however, are the constraints, particularly the financial ones.”
And it is precisely these constraints that Karama Guimbal teaches to students in the Colrobot Specialized Master’s© program. Using case studies, the engineer presents the various fields of service robotics and the challenges encountered.  The students appreciate this different approach, as Simon, a ColRobot MS student, explains: “This course gives us a different perspective on robotics, but also on business, since Bluefrog is more like a startup than a large industrial group, which is what we’re more used to working with.”

The Colrobot Specialized Master's® program trains students in collaborative robotics, mainly for industry, but also for service robotics. According to Richard Béarée, director of the program, "The courses on service robotics allow our students to keep an open mind, making them aware that, even if the core business is the same, the constraints are different because the end customer is different. "

Bluefrog Robotics: creator of the Buddy robot

BUDDY is the revolutionary companion robot that participates in everyday family life by offering real services. Open source and easy to use, BUDDY protects your home, entertains your children, and helps you stay in touch with your loved ones. BUDDY is also a modular platform that can be endlessly enhanced with accessories. Its open development platform will allow the developer community to freely implement and distribute new applications.
