Clément Bonitti, engineer specializing in the design and operation of industrial equipment, class of 2016.

After completing his BTS, Clément wanted to continue his studies with an engineering apprenticeship program. He joined the first class of the program, which opened in Metz in September 2016 in partnership with TII Lorraine.

Always attentive to the market, Arts et Métiers to the needs of manufacturers and the aspirations of students with its training programs. With this in mind, the Industrial Equipment Design and Operation program opened on the Metz campus at the start of the last academic year.

Objective? To train engineers capable of designing, developing, installing, and maintaining dedicated, specific, and unique equipment that is technically and economically effective and efficient.

The clear choice of apprenticeship

Clément Bonitti, engineer specializing in MetzWhile studying for his BTS, Clément had already decided on his career path: he wanted to attend engineering school. "When I heard thatArts et Métiers a work-study program in September 2016, I immediately sent in my application because there wasn't much time left to apply. I was very interested in the program—I love design and innovation—but it was alsoArts et Métiers reputationArts et Métiers motivated me to choose this program."

For the past few months, he has been completing his apprenticeship at Renault SOVAB, but he is also discovering all aspects of life as an engineering student and the resources available to him. "I was impressed by the tools and equipment available to us, starting with the computer software. I can also mention the machining and foundry equipment, and the library, which has a lot of books."

Classes, but not only that!

Clément plans to get involved in school life and help set up the first Arts et Métiers apprentice association Arts et Métiers Metz campus. It's a unifying project that he hopes to carry out in collaboration with the general engineering student association.

What really impressed me was theArts et Métiers student association, their impact on the school, and their sense of solidarity.

His advice

"The dual-study engineering program isn't just internships, but actual periods spent working in a company every month. You're faced with reality, in the field. After a few months, you know the company and its tools inside out. There's more than one thing to do: you get to enjoy working on projects, take on responsibilities, and above all, learn the engineering profession. It's really the best thing I've done in my education."
