Welcome to the Bordeaux-Talence campus

The Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Bordeaux in a nutshell

The Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Bordeaux-Talence is a major player in higher education, research, and innovation in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Located in one of Europe's largest university campuses, it is at the heart of the Pôle Universitaire d'Innovation (PUI), a particularly dynamic ecosystem with several high-tech industries: civil and military aviation, space, composite materials, electronics, etc.

Multiple initiatives to promote research and technology transfer are carried out on campus, in close collaboration with the AMValor delegation. These initiatives position the Bordeaux-Talence campus as an important socio-economic player in the Greater Southwest region. In addition, the campus, in partnership with the CFAI, UIMM, and AMTalents, meets the continuing education needs of businesses.

A word from the director

" Located in the heart of a dynamic region, the Bordeaux-Talence campus plays a key role in engineering education and applied research, particularly in the fields of aeronautics and space, materials, and sustainable development. Working closely with the I2M laboratory and the IRT, the campus is developing an innovative learning ecosystem, embodied in particular byEvolutive Learning Factory ELF): an immersive educational platform designed to train students through practical experience, in real industrial conditions, on collaborative and multidisciplinary projects. This dynamic reinforces our mission: to train committed engineers who are ready to take on the challenges of the industry of the future. " Xavier Aubard, Director of the Bordeaux-Talence campus

Evolutives Learning Factories on campus

The national ELF ( Evolutive Learning Factories) factory school project , deployed on the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Bordeaux-Talence, aims to train our future engineers in situations that closely resemble those they will encounter in the professional world.

Objective: to prepare them for the challenges of responsible industries, drawing on advanced technology platforms.

These include:

  • a machine park for machining
  • a fleet of metalworking machinery
  • an assembly/disassembly platform
  • an AR/VR (augmented reality/virtual reality) platform
  • mechanical/materials characterization laboratories
  • a fab lab
  • a set of collaborative robots that can be deployed on platforms

Among the professional software programs used by students, RobotDK is used for offline programming for all robots on site.

The Bordeaux-Talence campus stands out for its approach, which covers the entire product life cycle: design, manufacturing, use, and end of life. Present throughout the campus, from the barrier that rises at the entrance to the technology halls, the ELF project aligns teaching, research, and industrial transfer while enhancing existing platforms.

Students play a central role in this process: ELF representatives are appointed from among second-year Grande Ecole Program (PGE) students and actively participate in implementing projects and organizing campus life. Each fall, an ELF evening event highlights local initiatives and provides a special opportunity to showcase achievements, strengthen collective momentum, and raise new funds.

Led locally by Stéphane Chevalier, Fabian Magnin, and Frédéric Lalardie, ELF correspondents , this project is developing thanks to the joint involvement of students, teachers, and staff, thereby strengthening the campus's position in Bordeaux's academic and industrial ecosystem.
