The Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Châlons-en-Champagne will welcome 9th grade classes by reservation as part of the Fête de la Science (Science Festival).

The campus opens its doors for a day of discovery, experimentation, and technical challenges. On the agenda: interactive activities focusing on physics, robotics, and digital manufacturing, plus a workshop that will take you on a journey from potato chips to smartphone cases! Not to mention miniature cars designed by bachelor's degree students in technology that race around at top speed. A day to explore, understand, marvel... and perhaps discover your calling!

Workshops offered

Cutting in all its forms

Hosted by Samuel Créquy and Dominique Dufossé (Machining, Building J)

What do potato chips and your cell phone case have in common? Come discover our workshops. We will show you our cutting tools, from vegetable peelers to the most powerful machines used in the industry.

Robotics demonstration

Hosted by Clovis Francis (Creativity Space, Building B1)

Come and discover cobots, collaborative robots that work hand in hand with humans! Unlike traditional robots, cobots do not replace humans: they assist them in their tasks, in complete safety. In factories, hospitals, and even libraries, they make movements simpler, more precise, and sometimes less tiring. Come see them in action and ask your questions.

Viscosity

Hosted by Ibrahim Demirci (AtriuM basement, building B1)

Come and discover viscosity... while having fun! Why does honey flow more slowly than water? How can a liquid be both fluid and resistant? Come and explore the fascinating world of viscous liquids. Come and test, compare, and understand this phenomenon that is hidden in our everyday lives!

F1 in Schools

Hosted by Jeremy Blanks (Ground floor, building J)

Mini race cars designed by bachelor's degree students in technology! As part of the international F1 in Schools challenge, our students designed, modeled, and built real miniature race cars. Powered by CO₂ cartridges, these cars speed around the track! Come admire their ingenuity and learn about the design process in an animation that is as scientific as it is spectacular.

Fablab Presentation

Hosted by Sébastien Soulas (Fablab, Building B1)

The workshop where ideas come to life! Come and discover the school's fablab, a creative space open to all curious minds! 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters... Here, cutting-edge technologies are available to everyone. Students and teachers design innovative objects, experiment, and bring their projects to life.

Braking... without touching!

Hosted by Jérôme Isselin (1st floor AtriuM, building B1)

Discover Foucault currents How can you slow down an object without touching it? With Foucault currents! This amazing physical phenomenon allows moving objects to be slowed down using magnetic fields. Used in roller coasters, trains, and even some bicycles, this type of braking is silent, contactless, and spectacular. Come and try it for yourself and understand how science transforms the invisible into action!
