A look back at the winners of the 2024 Mayoux-Dauriac Prize at the Arts et Métiers campuses.
THE MAYOUX-DAURIAC PRIZE: AN AWARD FOR MASTERY OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE
Created in accordance with the last will and testament of Maurice Mayoux, an Arts et Métiers engineer Arts et Métiers Cluny class of 1920) and his wife Jeanne Dauriac, the Mayoux Prize rewards mastery of the French language.
This prize, worth €1,000, is open to students in their second year of the Grande École Program at each of the eight Arts et Métiers campuses Arts et Métiers is organized by the SOCE campus representatives.
With one prize per Arts et Métiers campus, it recognizes the student who, in both written and oral work, and in terms of both form and content, uses the French language with the greatest eloquence, finesse, and meaning.
2024 MAYOUX AWARD WINNERS BY CAMPUS
Aix-en-Provence

Both candidates presented personal projects related to the following theme: "If fear of death stopped men, you would have neither great soldiers nor great athletes" (Robert Badinter – National Assembly, September 17, 1981). These projects were interesting and demonstrated great depth of analysis and reading. Both candidates, each in their own style, demonstrated the important and central place that the French language had in their lives.
After deliberation, the jury did not wish to choose between these two candidates and therefore decided to award the Mayoux-Dauriac Prize to two winners.

Anaëlle won unanimous approval from the jury. She stood out thanks to her vocabulary and was able to address the topic by giving several examples and good ideas.
His speech was coherent, structured, well-constructed, and fluid.
Cluny

Coralie CURTET and Arnaud DUBOIS are the winners of this edition. The jury was unable to differentiate between them, as both their personal work and their summary reports were of exceptional quality.
This year, personal projects had to be inspired by two quotes from Albert Einstein: "The environment is everything that is not me" and "If forests were to disappear one day, man would have nothing left but his family tree to mourn." The jury gave candidates free rein in terms of form: short story, dialogue, play, poetry, fiction, etc. The content could be based on your own experiences or be fictional.
Finally, the 4- or 5-page summary (excluding appendices) had the following theme: Regenerative or regenerative industry.

The award ceremony took place on Friday, June 7, 2024, following a morning of presentations and jury deliberations by PJT 2A students, in the presence of Jean-Luc MAURICE, Bo182, and Laurent STEVENY, professor of economics and ethics.
Quentin, winner of the 2024 Prize and involved throughout the year as a promotion officer, read his text to first- and second-year students gathered for the occasion in the Cour d'Honneur courtyard on the Lille campus. Congratulations to him!

At the Mayoux Award ceremony at the Hôtel des Arts et Métiers, Sixtine expressed her gratitude to the jury and participants. Sixtine immersed herself in the interpretation of Fragonard's "Le verrou," comparing herself to "the Hercule Poirot of a painting," using techniques such as infrared and ultraviolet light to reveal the secrets of the painting. She emphasized the importance of every detail, from the light to the vibrant colors, in revealing the hidden meaning of the work. She concluded by explaining, "Even in a technical field such as engineering, art has an essential place, enriching our understanding and appreciation of the world."
