Designing your own furniture using immersive technologies? That is the goal of the training course "Using interactive technologies in a co-creation process" offered as part of the Do It Together Over Europe (DIT-EU) project , led by EITManufacturing, a network of leading industrial partners.

A green project

This project aims to raise awareness of "Do It Together" concepts and XR technologies that enable more environmentally friendly and sustainable design and production of consumer goods. In this way, it contributes to more sustainable manufacturing, particularly in the furniture sector, with more personalized and environmentally friendly products. This training course has been designed to support professionals in their design activities in the furniture and furnishings sector. Its objective is to teach participants how to use interactive technologies in the design process, thereby involving consumers throughout the entire project chain. It is completely free of charge and is aimed at designers, furniture manufacturers, and interior design professionals.

Comprehensive training

On Wednesday, November 22, this training course took place on the Arts et Métiers campus Arts et Métiers Paris and was offered free of charge in 2023 thanks to funding from EITMAnufacturing, by Benjamin Poussard, XR AMVALOR engineer . Participants who had previously completed online modules met in person for a day combining theory (25%) and practice (75%):

The morning was devoted to introducing the training course, presenting the expectations, and discussing a use case. Participants were able to learn about the technology and the design process while brainstorming. In the afternoon, they practiced using 3D scanning to model a room and then designed furniture using augmented reality. They also experimented with immersive design using VR headsets.
