€2.9 million is the cost of the work carried out to renovate the Cluny workshops to improve their energy efficiency, resulting in a 30% reduction in energy consumption.
Started in March 2022, the project is expected to be completed in early 2023.
Funding from France Relance (more information) has enabled the renovation of the boiler room, the removal of asbestos and replacement of the glass roofs, the improvement of the insulation under the roof, and the replacement of tiles on some of the sheds. The project also includes the installation of photovoltaic panels, the energy produced by which will be consumed directly on site.

A majority of local businesses

Project management is handled internally by Frédéric Bey, Head of the Property Maintenance Department at the Cluny campus. Most of the work was carried out by local companies: structural work by Dufraigne (Autun), roofing by SARL LORON (Saint Didier-sur-Chalronne), exterior carpentry by KINGSPAN (Saint-Priest), plumbing and heating by Badet (Montceau Les Mines), electricity and photovoltaic panels by Alhena (Saint Maurice Les Chateauneuf), etc.

"Overall, Arts et Métiers 18 projects selected under France Relance for total funding of €5.37 million," explain Sabine Routeau and Virginie Thibert, Real Estate Department.Cluny is one of the two largest budgets along with the Angers campus. But almost all campuses have received funding for work such as replacing windows and doors or light bulbs. This would result in total energy savings of 1,656,913 kWhEP/year and greenhouse gas savings of 452,974 kgéqCO2/year."

Four projects selected for the Resilience Plan

Last May, the institution submitted new applications as part of the Resilience Plan(more information), which aims to finance actions to reduce fossil fuel consumption in the short term and improve environmental performance.
Four were selected for a total of more than €400,000: connecting the Lille campus to the district heating network and multiple projects in Châlons-en-Champagne (thermostatic heads, desludging, replacement or modernization of pumps, creation of a delivery airlock).
