To mark Sustainable Development Week, we take a look back at the in-depth study week organized by second-year engineering students at the Bordeaux-Talence campus, during which they worked closely with companies in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.

The Sustainable Development immersion week focused on a real-life case study from Tergys, a company offering autonomous energy and water production systems.

During this project, the engineering students were tasked with research and explore new markets for an innovation. This professional project enabled them to:

  • to address the various concepts related to sustainable development, their origins (sustainable development, circular economy, Earth's limits, Millennium Development Goals, etc.), and the associated management tools (ISO),
  • to become familiar with innovation and strategy management tools (market exploration, strategic diagnosis, development of a business model),
  • to present your case to a professional, focusing on the reliability of the data used, the robustness of the approach adopted for innovation, and the clarity of the presentation,
  • to raise awareness of the reality of a technological and innovative company when it needs to develop in "start-up" mode.

This year, Tergys asked engineering students at the Bordeaux campus to work on this case study. The students considered how the company's solutions could be applied in different types of environments: campsites, leisure parks, gas stations, laundromats, etc.

At the end of the presentations, Tergys was particularly impressed by our students' performance:

For our part, the product and market analyses carried out by the students have undoubtedly opened up new development opportunities for us, which we will explore.
