A structure dedicated to the supervision of PhD students
Doctoral School 432 "Engineering sciences" occupies a prominent place in the dynamism of the research. Combining Arts et Métiers with the Mines ParisTech engineering school since 2006, it joined the six Cnam (Conservatoire national des arts et métiers) laboratories in 2015.
The role of the doctoral school is essential. First and foremost, it supports the organisation and supervision of the training of PhD students in cooperation with the research teams that host them. The priority is to check the quality of the work of PhD students and thesis supervision. It also aims to follow the career paths of doctors.
The doctoral school draws on 28 research units, 16 of which are attached to Arts et Métiers. The four major thematic areas are the following:
- solid and materials mechanics;
- fluid mechanics and energy mechanics;
- design and industrialisation;
- mathematics and systems.
It currently has nearly 500 PhD students from the three institutions, who contribute directly to science and technology issues being handled by the research units. In most cases, they participate in research partnership work in cooperation with companies.
